These terms are an agreement between you and Cascade Layer, a sole proprietorship in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"), which operates Commovi. By using Commovi you agree to them. Please read them with the Privacy Policy and the Community guidelines.

What Commovi is

Commovi is a platform where members of a community find, book and message each other about shared rides to and from the community's centres. The driver provides the ride; Cascade Layer doesn't provide transport. We don't employ or vet drivers, inspect vehicles, or take part in the arrangements members make with each other.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older and invited by a community that uses Commovi. One account per person, with a mobile phone number in Canada or the United States that is yours.

Booking for others

When you book more than one seat, the extra seats are for people travelling with you, including children travelling with their parent or guardian. You are responsible for the people you book for. Children need the car seat or booster seat Ontario law requires, which the parent or guardian brings. The driver can decline a booking.

No money

Commovi is free. Drivers may not ask for or accept payment, fuel money or gifts for rides arranged through Commovi.

If you drive

  • Hold a valid driver's licence and the insurance your province or state requires, and confirm with your insurer that your policy covers the driving you do through Commovi.
  • Drive a vehicle that is safe and roadworthy.
  • Obey traffic laws, and never drive impaired or while using your phone.
  • Make sure the riders you take are the members who booked, and the people they booked for.

You are responsible for the trip you drive.

If you ride

Be at the pickup on time, wear a seatbelt, and cancel as early as you can if your plans change. Your decision to ride with another member is your own.

Your account

Keep your phone secure: anyone who can read its texts can sign in as you. Keep your name truthful, and if you add a photo, it should show you. You can stop using Commovi at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).

What you post

You're responsible for the rides, messages, reviews and reports you post. You allow us to store and show them to the members who need them to use Commovi. Follow the Community guidelines.

Admins, suspension and removal

Your community's admins can approve members, remove members and act on reports. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk.

Text messages

Commovi ride alerts are text messages sent by Cascade Layer about rides you are part of.

  • What you get: a text when your booking is confirmed or declined, when a booking is cancelled, and a reminder the day before your trip. No marketing.
  • How you agree: only by ticking the optional, unchecked box when you join, or by turning on Text alerts in Notification settings. You don't have to agree to texts to use Commovi; push notifications and the app cover the same events.
  • How often: Message frequency varies with your bookings, typically a few texts for each trip.
  • Cost: Message and data rates may apply.
  • Stop and start: Reply STOP to opt out of any alert; you'll get one text confirming. To resume, reply START to a Commovi ride alert (the number your alerts come from). After STOP, the switch in the app can't turn texts back on.
  • Help: Reply HELP for help, or write to support@commovi.com.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Where: Canada and the United States.

Sign-in codes are separate: when you ask to sign in, Twilio Verify texts a one-time code to the number you entered. They come only when you ask for one, from Twilio's own numbers, not from the ride alerts number, so replying STOP to an alert doesn't stop them.

See the Privacy Policy for how we handle your number and consent: we don't share your mobile number or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.

No guarantees

We work to keep Commovi running and accurate, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available, that a ride will happen, or that an alert will arrive on time. Don't rely on Commovi alone for a trip that matters.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for anything that happens during a ride, for what members do or post, or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada that apply there.

Changes

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before an important change takes effect. Using Commovi after that means you accept the new terms.
